China PVC cost pressure: implications for black pigment formulation

SunSirs reported on 26 October 2026 that China’s PVC prices rose with cost support and reduced supply, while downstream demand remained weak. The report concerns resin, not measured black pigment prices or sales. Its relevance to carbon black is through downstream uses such as PVC granules, compounds and manufactured polymer products.

Higher resin prices do not prove stronger pigment demand

When the base resin becomes more expensive, processors may reassess purchasing budgets and stock levels. That does not necessarily mean more orders for black pigment. Actual production schedules, customer orders and lead times should be considered alongside raw-material prices. Conditions in China should not be automatically generalized to Iran or another destination.

For a PVC compounder, pigment price per kilogram is only one element of product cost. Compare the dosage required to achieve the target colour, dispersion, surface uniformity, processing conditions and trial outcome. A grade change may require formulation adjustments; a lower material quote does not by itself establish lower finished-product cost.

Gohar Farayand describes P-30 black pigment as a produced general-purpose black pigment for applications including PVC. Final selection needs formulation review and sample testing. Its N330 carbon black page covers a traded industrial grade, which should be distinguished from the company’s produced pigments when requesting technical and commercial information.

Analysis

The inference is greater attention to total formulation cost, not confirmed growth in carbon black demand. Clear specifications, samples and comparable offers help customers evaluate options. Production plans offer a firmer demand signal than a resin price movement alone.
