A November 2, 2026 market report describes a decline followed by narrow trading in Chinese carbon black prices during October. Its figures cover China’s domestic market; they are not global transaction prices or quotations from Gohar Farayand.
TDD-Global lists October average regional N330 quotations of 9,506 yuan per tonne in Shandong, 9,294 in Shanxi, 9,841 in Hebei, 9,619 in Guangzhou and 9,519 in Zhejiang. These are monthly regional averages. Grade specifications, delivery terms, transaction date and freight still determine the price available to an individual buyer.
Estimated Chinese carbon black output was 470,200 tonnes in October, 7.82% below the preceding month, while the average operating rate of sampled producers was 58%. Tire plants gradually restarted after the holiday period, yet inventories and high material costs kept purchasing focused on essential replenishment. The report puts semi-steel tire plant utilization at 49% and all-steel tire utilization at 47%.
On the feedstock side, high-temperature coal tar initially fell before restocking supported a rebound. The same report cites September carbon black imports of 23,700 tonnes, up 10.53% month on month, and exports of 110,500 tonnes, down 10.69%. Those trade figures concern September; the output and pricing discussion concerns October.
Analysis
Lower output alongside cautious tire buying does not by itself prove an immediate shortage. Industrial buyers should read feedstock movements, producer operating rates and actual orders together rather than treating one regional average as a universal benchmark. Technical requirements and supply terms remain central to choosing a rubber grade.
