Source date: 2026-10-19. Birla Carbon’s 2026 sustainability report says Continua SCM reached industrial scale in Italy and India. What buyers should verify when comparing carbon materials.
What does the report say?
On October 19, 2026, Birla Carbon released its fourteenth annual sustainability report. The company says its circular carbonaceous material, Continua SCM, has reached industrial scale in Europe and Asia. Its report page identifies operational facilities in Italy and India. Birla also reports an EcoVadis Platinum rating and a CDP B score for both Climate and Water. These are Birla-specific statements, not attributes of carbon black supplied by other companies.
Analysis
Scaling circular carbon materials highlights the growing importance of origin, traceability and documented environmental impact alongside price and performance in rubber and polymer purchasing. A recovered or circular material is not interchangeable with a virgin carbon black grade by name alone. Surface area, structure, ash, contamination, dispersion and performance in the actual compound require testing against the buyer’s specification. Birla’s production announcement does not establish availability or product properties in another market.
Practical material selection
For a conventional supplied industrial carbon black grade, review Gohar’s N330 page and request its current specification and availability; N330 is not Continua SCM. View product N330.
