China’s conductive carbon black standard takes effect: quality requirements in focus

China’s official national standards information platform lists November 1, 2026 as the implementation date of HG/T 6467—2026, covering conductive carbon black for plastic shielding compounds. The document was published on April 16; today’s development is its scheduled implementation. The registry classifies it as a recommended chemical-industry standard under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It should therefore not be described as a blanket mandatory rule for all carbon black.

A specific scope for a specific application

The official summary covers terminology, product naming, characteristic requirements, testing, inspection, packaging, marking, transportation and storage. Its scope is conductive carbon black for plastic shielding compounds. It is not a general specification for every black pigment or rubber grade. The listed drafting organizations include materials companies and a power-grid research institute.

For industrial buyers, the practical lesson is to define measurable acceptance criteria. A trade name or the appearance of black powder is not a complete purchasing specification. Test methods, sampling, batch consistency, storage conditions and final-product requirements should be agreed with the supplier. Contractual references require review of the complete standard; the registry summary alone does not establish all numerical limits.

Gohar Farayand presents P-30 black pigment for relevant coloring applications and trades N330 industrial carbon black. Electrical applications need their own qualification tests. This article does not claim these products comply with the new standard.

Analysis

Standardization can make buyer–producer discussions more precise. For black pigment users, the key is application-specific quality: particle size or color strength alone cannot confirm electrical performance.
