Moneycontrol reported a ₹130 crore JK Maxx Paints water-based paint plant: 75,000 kilolitres annually, with commissioning expected 12 months after construction begins.
What paint capacity means for pigment suppliers
A new paint plant matters to black pigment suppliers as a development in a consuming industry. Nameplate paint capacity, however, does not establish a specific volume of carbon black demand. Product mix, the share of dark colours, formulation dosage and the pace of production ramp-up determine the purchasing requirement. An investment headline is a starting point for market research.
A commercial opportunity becomes concrete when the buyer’s specifications are clear. A project name alone does not identify pigment grade, order volume, resin compatibility or sample qualification procedures. Suppliers need an application-focused technical proposal and a realistic view of the customer’s approval process. The report does not establish a supply relationship between the project and Gohar.
Selecting black pigment for water-based coatings
Jetness is only one part of selecting a black pigment. Dispersion, mill-base viscosity, dispersant requirements and colour stability in the finished formulation should be evaluated together. Comparative testing is more informative when resin, solids content and the dispersion method remain consistent. Otherwise a process difference can be mistaken for a material difference.
For buyers of micronized carbon black, performance in the actual product has greater practical value than a comparison based only on brand or price per kilogram. Recording dosage, processing time, surface appearance and viscosity helps assess cost in use. Sample acceptance and consistency of subsequent deliveries remain part of supplier evaluation, especially when a plant is increasing output or changing its formulation.
Analysis
The investment indicates a development plan in a pigment-consuming market, rather than confirmed additional orders or a carbon black price increase. The practical opportunity for Gohar is to present grades against a formulator’s requirements, supported by clearly specified samples. Colour quality, processability and cost in use should be evaluated together. Any sales forecast needs evidence of actual demand and customer technical acceptance.

Compare Gohar P-90 for colour depth and formulation requirements with general-purpose P-30. Selection for a water-based system requires compatibility and dispersion testing in the customer’s formulation.
